Here it is…at last! This was one of those that I would never think of watching. Back in the days when this first aired, it seemed like crap. Shitastic derives from excessive shitastic . Eventually, I gave in and watched all three seasons of . The first season was meh. Then, Dragon’s Destiny comes along and says, “Hey, fuck the first season.” And there we have it, there was little connection between the first and all other seasons. In fact, a character that died in the first somehow came back to life on the third season. WTF! Dragon’s Destiny was enjoyable to an extent nonetheless. Finally, Great Guardians…where to begin…Kan’u Unchou queen of god damn ecchi action figures. If there are fucking nude Japanese PVC’s, it’s fucking Kan’u. Literally, the huge thread in HF is dedicated to that god damned shit of a money dumping market.

Enough of that…back to the anime, Great Guardians was a total letdown. It no longer has a plot, and every episode is a nerdy Japanese guy’s wet dream. Every episode is pantsu pantsu pantsu. If there are any fighting scenes, the heroines of Ikkitousen will most definitely have their clothes shredded before collapsing from defeat. As if that doesn’t sound weirder, there are scraps of clothing clinging to their titties (curse you censorship?). It defies the laws of physics! Oh wait, all of these kind of shows do that. Nevermind. Now, Ikkitousen Xtreme Xecutor is out! XTREEEEEEEME…FAIL. I ain’t gonna watch that piece of crap! The show went from mediocre into a frikkin’ Queen’s Blade. Seriously, Ikkitousen…GG!

So I picked Tenjou Tenge up a week ago. Sure, I saw it in dubbed…lol, but I think I also saw Ikki’s first season dubbed anyway. Tenjou Tenge and Ikkitousen are very similar. They are both about teenagers fighting to dominate other teenagers in a fighting school(s). The latter is based off a now really overused theme…I can’t even remember that anime that was also based off of the Three Kingdoms mythology… I digress, Tenjou Tenge actually has a plot! For an ecchi anime that is new~! In fact, I barely even noticed any fanservice throughout the 26 episodes. I am aware that the anime was seriously toned down compared to the manga which had excessive nudity. Hardcore nudity…borderline porno in fact. Lol. The only beef I had with the anime is that it covers only the flashback arc. As if the anime studio guys thought we didn’t see enough of the 16 episodes of reminiscencing, they made a 90 minute original film animation on that crap! At least it has drama…that’s good, right?

Anyway, my encounter with the anime wasn’t a bad one at all. Even the dubbing was exceptional. Oh wait…except for Aya ACTUALLY referring to Souichiro-SAMA. Seriously, that was new. I didn’t think dubbers would DEIGN to add an honorific. Worse yet, it only applies to Aya when she talks about Souichiro. One thing I couldn’t believe is my uncanny ability to remember useless shit actually allowed me to recognize Maya’s voice cast. Wendee Lee…LOL. Wasn’t she the one who dubbed Kiyone in the Tenchi Muyo! series? Yeah…um…

If there is anything I am sure of it’s that Tenjou Tenge >>> Ikkitousen. PERIOD.
